- Movement for your mind.
Movement for your mind.
I walk, lift weights, and play sports for the brain benefits.
The physique is a nice perk.
But it’s not the source of my motivation.
Exercise is a part of my identity, daily routine, and business skillset.
Movement is a basic human need.
Fitness is a tool to help you achieve your potential.
But I’ve realized most injuries are a lifestyle (and not a movement problem).
A healthy way of living is the most effective way to avoid physical dysfunction.
I want to create a brand to help you focus.
Healthy habits to boost your energy.
Movement for mental clarity.
This is the “why” behind my brand.
I want to help you get fit so you have more focus.
Being fit isn’t just about nutrition and exercise,
It’s also about breathing, sleep, sunlight, time in nature, walking, mental health, relationships, spirituality, etc…
A few weeks ago, I finished the popular business book ’Start With Why’.
It says instead of focusing on the what or the how of the business.
Tell people why you do what you do.
Why does your company exist?
Why do you get out of bed in the morning?
And why should anyone care?
When Dell tried to pivot to MP3 players they sold a “5GB mp3 player”
They lost to their competitor because Apple was selling “1,000 songs in your pocket”.
Starting with why allows me to talk about the topic that’s most interesting to me.
This is the format I’m using for my content:
Here’s something interesting about how to be healthy (and be your best self).
Here’s the benefits of adopting this perspective…
And here’s the pains that come with the standard approach…
For example,
Most of my work experience has been helping people with joint pain.
And I’m happy to share my knowledge around this specific niche.
But I also realize that unhealthy lifestyles are holding people back. -Not enough movement -Stays out late every weekend -Spends 95% of their day indoors
I want to help you perform, so please avoid these social norms.
Sleep, sunlight, and movement are the ingredients missing from most people’s lives.
Don’t think it will work for you?
The other day on X I mentioned:
“lots of walks, sun exposure, and minimal artificial light”
Benjamin replied with
“I've been actively trying to do a bunch of the stuff you mention in your comment.
And it's genuinely been a game changer, at least in my mood.
The difference has really been like night and day!”
And that’s why I’m emailing you today.
Not only to share my plans for this newsletter,
But also to inspire you to make your health a higher priority.
If there’s was just one thing I could recommend,
It would be to go for a walk at sunrise.
Movement and sunlight to set your circadian rhythm is the secret sauce.
Your good friend,
Tyler Van Acker, Doctor of PT
